Student Creativity Supporting Childhood Cancer Research
Earlier this term, Cherry Tree Art Studio was grateful to take part in the Lions Club of Berowra’s Heart of Craft & Art Show, held in support of the Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation (ALCCRF).
Our students generously donated artworks created during their classes, with proceeds from the stall supporting the Foundation’s important work in childhood cancer research. Alongside The Lions Club of Berowra, our students’ contribution formed part of the $2,150 presented to ALCCRF through the event.
The purpose behind the fundraiser reaches far beyond one event. The Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation supports vital research into childhood cancers, including precision medicine, immunotherapy and research into rare and difficult-to-treat cancers. This work helps researchers develop better treatments and improve outcomes for children and families facing an incredibly difficult diagnosis.
We were very inspired by the care, generosity and effort that the local community brought to this event. A heartfelt thank you to Rosalind for coordinating the day, the Lions Club of Berowra volunteers, and Lion Janey Tham for sharing more about the Foundation’s work. Special thanks also to Eva for generously volunteering her time at our stall.
We are grateful that our studio community could play a small part in a much larger shared effort. While the art fair has now passed, the need to support childhood cancer research continues.
