Curriculum

  • Creative Orchards

    Lower Primary (Years K-2)

Every child is gifted with a creative mind from a young age. At a beginner/lower primary level, focus is placed on developing confidence and a free, imaginative mindset. Students steady the hand with simple line work and explore basic colouring techniques such as directional shading, gradient blending and smudging.

  • Christmas Puppy Acrylic on Canvas

    Middle Primary (Years 3-4)

At the mid primary level, students start to refine their motor skills and grow their understanding of shapes, colours and patterns. We explore more detailed line work and introduce colour layering and mixed media play. Observation skills begin to emerge, supporting stronger drawing habits while keeping creativity at the centre of each piece.

  • A watercolor painting of a peaceful countryside scene featuring a white house with brown roofs, surrounded by green trees and yellow wildflowers, with mountains in the background and a blue sky overhead.

    Upper Primary (Years 5-6)

At the upper primary level, we aim to investigate more possibilities of visual communication, manipulating colour, tone, perspective and composition to better express individual ideas. Through fine line illustrations, step-by-step sketches and 3D representations, students begin to explore more complex visual outcomes.

  • Painting of Sydney Harbour featuring the Sydney Opera House in the foreground with its iconic white sails, a waterway below, and the Sydney Harbour Bridge in the background with a city skyline behind it, under a blue sky with flying seagulls.

    Junior High School (Years 7-9)

In Junior High, students build on foundational sketching and develop stronger visual understanding. With a focus on structure and form, they explore subjects through pencil, pen, paint and watercolour—often using multiple materials to approach one theme from different angles. Rather than replicating photos, students learn to express what they see through thoughtful, stylised representation.

  • Charcoal Building Artwork by Anngie

    Senior High School (Years 10-11)

Senior students begin to develop a more personal visual language, exploring their interests through self-directed projects and more advanced media. Techniques may include watercolour, charcoal, acrylic, mixed media, and textured approaches using palette knives, impasto and additives like sand. We encourage individuality, whether in detailed illustration or bold, expressive work, and support students to make meaningful artistic decisions while refining technique. Projects are layered, concept-driven and open-ended, allowing for growth in both skill and creative voice.

  • Watercolor illustration of two kittens sleeping inside a hollowed-out tree trunk, surrounded by mushroom and fern plants.

HSC - BOW Development (Year 12)

Recommended for students undertaking Year 12 Visual Arts, these sessions focus on building a cohesive, concept-driven body of work for the HSC practical submission. Students are guided to shape their major project with a strong personal voice, ensuring that the concept, medium, scale and visual language work together to communicate meaning effectively.
